In the “everything I needed to know I learned as a five-year-old” category:
How compelling and enduring are these simple words from a song I learned long ago, how they have increased in depth of meaning as I ‘grow up’:
“He’s still workin’ on me,
To make me what I ought to be.
It took him just a week to make the moon and stars,
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars,
How loving and patient He must be,
He’s still workin’ on me.”
Lord, I am amazed at your power and your might,
But perhaps even more so by your mercy and your grace
Thank you, Lord, for your love and your patience.
Thank you for continuing to ‘work on me.’
