“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake” Phil. 1:29 (ESV).
Interesting to note here a very important truth that is sometimes overlooked:
God “has granted” his people BOTH “faith” AND “suffering” for the sake of Jesus Christ.
As believers, we have an amazing God whose grace draws us to him, sustains us in him, and ultimately delivers us to him.
At the same time, we are granted the opportunity to share in a small way during our lives on earth in the suffering that Jesus experienced for us when He died on the cross for our sins.
We are granted this “for the sake of Christ.” We are granted this so that Christ’s name should be proclaimed to a lost and dying world.
We are granted BOTH faith AND suffering, all for the glory of God!
